Dolomite cluster from Baia Sprie Romania weighing 712g measuring 164:115:52mm Science & Origin of Dolomite Dolomite is a calcium, magnesium, carbonate mineral that commonly forms in small clusters of rhomehedrical shaped crystals with saddle-shaped formations. This mineral can also be found in masses or grains and appears as white, grey, brown, green, pink and black. The first traces of Dolomite in historical writings were by the Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus in 1778. However, this mineral was named in honor of the French geologist Déodat de Dolomieu in 1791. Dolomieu was a fascinating character, joining a knighthood at the age of 12, and later killing a man in a duel at the age of 18. He was then pardoned by Pope Clement XIII only one year into his life sentence. During an expedition to the northern alps of Italy, Dolomieu discovered this mineral and noted its difference from Limestone by performing a series of tests. These tests consisted of diluting Dolomite in hydrochrloric acid and recording a lack of effervescing, which should typically occur in Limestone. He published these findings and soon after, Nicolas Théodore de Saussure honored Dolomieu's discoveries by naming this stone after him. Meaning & Energy Dolomite invigorates our entire chakra system while grounding our emotions into the physical realm. If you often find yourself out of balance, Dolomite's energies focus on centering our emotional and physical bodies. This mineral harnesses its element by rooting one's aura deep into the core of the earth. Here, we can tap into Mother Earth's energies and intentions so that we may begin to reprogram our chakra system to be fully aligned once more. If you are one that is eager to clear your headspace of unneeded, self-deprecating thoughts and would like to tap into Mother Earth’s energies for guidance, Dolomite is a stone that you should be working with. When one is fully aligned with their chakra system, their decisions and thoughts will be of pure and decisive intent.
